Painting With Light @ Oakland Cemetery

I took a break from senior portraits and learned a real cool technique called "Painting With Light" which uses HDR editing to merge multiple images into one. You leave the shutter open for several minutes (on a tripod) and then use a flashlight to light up the scene in front of the camera. Since you don't know exactly what your light covers, you end up with a few images to compress so that the entire structure is lit up. Atlanta's Oakland Cemetery is awesome anytime, but especially on a night workshop with Judith Pishnery. Here's a couple of images from the session. You'll see my shadow in one! NEW STUDIO BACKDROPS!

I have discovered the wonderful array of fabrics to create dazzling backgrounds for portraits. These coupled with some photoshop editing can yield some great effects. I still have black and white solid backgrounds also. I will continue to add to these...

SPRING IS HERE! YEA!! Welcome to my outdoor studio! We have lovingly tended garden (okay not always loving it), but do LOVE the new Spring arrivals. I have numerous wonderful spots for lighting au naturale and that's the "bestest" soft light there is! Take a look...

Dodgen MS 8th Grade Party

What a blast the Dodgen 8th Grade Party was! Vibe Entertainment was the DJ and they kept it going while kids reveled, named American Idol winners and dance champions among themselves and just plain hung out. The evening atmosphere sparkled with decor a la an Indiana Jones movie, this one searching for the Last Party of the Eighth...

I was happy to take my part, watching kids among their friends, beam (okay ham) to the camera...that's what it's about...friends!

My New Studio

After more than a year in the making, my new photography studio is open! I've chosen Elinchrom lighting with the BXRi and Ranger RX kits for three-way lighting. See the big light? This is an 84" Octabank softbox that allows for some beautiful, wrap-around light! These lights can travel too so I can set up outside or at an event. Looking forward to much fun!
