Senior Shoot in Micanopy Florida, March 5-6

I'm taking appointments for a senior shoot the weekend of March 5-6! Sessions will run $75 for 50 minutes, starting on the hour, between 9-3. Special "a la carte" pricing will be offered with quantity discounts. Images will be priced at $30 for 8x10's, $20 for 5x7's or Wallet Sets and $10 for 4x6's. Then there's a 20% discount for orders of three or more of the same image. Minor digital edits included in print prices. All orders must be placed by March 15 for spring announcements. Showcase Photography School SHOTS 2010 Exhibit

Just learned I will have an image in the Showcase Photography School, student exhibition, SHOTS 2010! This is a juried exhibition where about 70 out of 400 entries were accepted! The exhibit runs 10/11 - 12/3 at the school in Atlanta. The exhibit is part of the month long celebration of photography in the city, called Atlanta Celebrates Photography. There will be over 150 events and exhibitions at over 125 venues.

Here's my entry entitled, Reading in the Park. I found this setting in the Carouge district of Geneva, Switzerland about a year ago. We are in a small city park at sunset with a beautiful warm glow resting on this gentleman immersed in his reading.

Painting With Light @ Oakland Cemetery

I took a break from senior portraits and learned a real cool technique called "Painting With Light" which uses HDR editing to merge multiple images into one. You leave the shutter open for several minutes (on a tripod) and then use a flashlight to light up the scene in front of the camera. Since you don't know exactly what your light covers, you end up with a few images to compress so that the entire structure is lit up. Atlanta's Oakland Cemetery is awesome anytime, but especially on a night workshop with Judith Pishnery. Here's a couple of images from the session. You'll see my shadow in one! I have discovered the wonderful array of fabrics to create dazzling backgrounds for portraits. These coupled with some photoshop editing can yield some great effects. I still have black and white solid backgrounds also. I will continue to add to these...
